Undaunted Supports AIxCC

Undaunted Development is proud to announce our role in the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) AI Cyber Challenge (AIxCC), which has brought together experts in AI and cybersecurity to develop autonomous systems that make software more secure at scale. Our team is applying our expertise in both security and technical visualization to help participants and spectators better understand the competition, the competitors' automated systems, and the software vulnerabilities involved.

Understanding Security through Visual Storytelling

Cybersecurity challenges commonly need to create narratives or explanatory visuals in order to show how a game is played and communicate what is significant and interesting to a larger audience. This problem becomes even more pressing when all of the players are automated systems themselves, as they are in AIxCC. To support this challenge, our team has developed innovative visualizations to show how competitors' autonomous AI systems work to find and fix software vulnerabilities. Translating esoteric topics in AI and DevSecOps into approachable narratives is a tall order, but it solidly aligns with the strengths of Undaunted Development.

As the software that underpins our world becomes more complex, the ability to communicate and reason about security flaws becomes increasingly important. Our unique experience positions us to tell the stories of technical concepts, such as helping viewers see how vulnerabilities work and how they are discovered. In the case of AIxCC, our team generated custom videos that highlighted unique facets and the path to discovery for all 59 vulnerabilities from the semifinals competition, such as the one shown below.

Undaunted Development's technology and experience is what enables us to showcase the innovation from competitors in this novel challenge, and which is as much of a win for our team as if we were competing. Supporting AIxCC aligns with our company's vision of improving the world's understanding of software and systems. By making difficult concepts more accessible through visualization, we're bridging the gap between security researchers and the broader community.
